Cat, teen shot with BB gun during home invasion
Omaha, NE (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Feb 5, 2006
County: Douglas

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged:
» 11 year old boy
» 15 year old boy

Suspects kicked in the front door of the home of Melissa Robbins on the evening of Feb 5 while she and a friend were upstairs.

"These boys come in the door, run up the stairs with their guns, start shooting at the door because we closed the door," said Robbins.

Robbins was hiding in her mother's bedroom when the suspects broke in.

"They kicked in this bathroom door," said Lisa Costable, Robbins' mother.

Costable said it didn't take long for the suspects to break into the bedroom.

"The other little girl here was held with the gun pointed at her, saying they were going to shoot her," Costable said.

Armed with what turned out to be B.B. guns, the two young robbers grabbed tools and CDs and made a run for it.

When Robbins tried to stop them, she says the older suspect shot her in the leg.

"It was like fast pain," Robbins said.

When her mother came home a few minutes later, she found the front door frame cracked and her daughter and cat shot with a B.B. gun.

Both suspects are being held at the Douglas County Youth Center. The 15-year-old faces three charges: destruction of property, misdemeanor assault and discharging a projectile.

The 11-year-old was arrested on charges of robbery and discharging a projectile. He already had a warrant out for his arrest for felony burglary.
