4 pigs found mutilated
Hot Springs Village, AR (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Nov 30, 2005
County: Garland

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

On East Goat Hill Road, two dogs and four pigs have been mutilated. "There was a pattern to it. These are totally done, deliberately by a human," says Lt. Rodney Neighbors with the Garland County Sheriff's Department. Deputies say they`re stumped. "If something`s going on, we can get an idea from somebody, hey these people may be doing it. This person may be doing it, but the scary part right now is we don`t have any idea who is doing it," says Lt. Neighbors.

One theory is it`s a cult doing rituals on living animals. "When you get through with animals, what if that doesn`t satisfy you, where do you go next? Do you go to humans?" asks Lt. Neighbors. Even if someone is arrested, the person can only be charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty because there are no felony animal cruelty laws in the state of Arkansas. The only felony charge - criminal mischief for destroying someone else`s property worth more than 500 dollars.

The sheriff`s department says they will need the public`s help in solving the case. There is now a $1,500 dollar reward for any information leading to an arrest. Just call 501-622-3690.
