Investigators say theyve never seen anything like this in Garland County - animals being killed methodically, and then carcasses lined up in neat rows.

The owner of one of the animals says she still can`t believe her 8-year-old beagle, Cindy, is gone. On January 27, 2006, Donna Bratton`s neighbor called her home from the store to tell her one of her 12 dogs had been hit by a car, but when Donna came home she found out, the dogs injuries were no accident. "They skinned that dog. She was alive. I just don`t see how anyone could do that to a dog," says Donna. Cindy, the 8 year old beagle, died the next morning.

The sheriff`s department says they will need the public`s help in solving the case. There is now a $1,500 dollar reward for any information leading to an arrest. Just call 501-622-3690.

Case Updates

In Garland County, a rash of animal mutilations and cruelty has the Sheriff's Department asking the public for help in catching those responsible. Steve Breshears lives off Arkansas Highway 5 in Garland County in a usually quiet area near Goat Hill Road. But over the weekend, one of his beagles came home bleeding, nearly skinned alive. Breshears says he cant understand why anyone would want to hurt a dog, For someone to do something like that, it's dirty. They must be sick. They have a heart and blood that pumps through their body just like a person does. Breshears says when his beagle came home, she was still clinging to life. His pet later had to be euthanized.

But, this is not the first animal mutilation case in the area. Lt. Rodney Neighbors of the Garland County Sheriff's Office says a cow has been slaughtered, it's carcass cut open. Two other dogs, a cat, and four pigs have also been killed in Goat Hill Road area. Officers say one theory is a cult could be involved, using the animals during rituals.

Lt. Neighbors is also concerned about where the animal cruelty cases could escalate from here. How long has this been going on that we didn't know about and where is it leading, Dahmer and all those started out this way. Authorities are askng for the public's help in stopping the string of mutilations. So far the sheriff's department says a $15,000 reward has been raised for information leading to the capture and prosecution of those responsible.

The Garland County Sheriff`s Department now thinks a satanic cult is responsible for torturing and killing at least eight animals. Investigators have turned to the Institute for the Research of Ritualistic and Organized Killing for help. Their cult experts are reviewing the case file to give deputies a profile of those responsible. So far, the department hasn`t gotten any leads in the case.

"The type of injuries to the animals and the positioning and stuff, is what initially lead them to believe it was more of a cult," says Lt. Rodney Neighbors of the Garland County Sheriffs Department. Animal groups have donated money to up the reward which is now more than $6,300. If you have any information about the cases, you can call the Sheriff`s Department at (501) 622-3660.
