Cat shot with pellet gun Littleton, CO (US)Incident Date: Monday, Jan 23, 2006 County: Arapahoe
Disposition: Open
Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
Arapahoe County investigators say they're taking the recent shooting of a pet cat very seriously, out of fear that whoever's responsible could move on to other animals -- or people. Lainey Hamrick said her black-and-white tomcat named "TJ" went out briefly on January 23, 2006, and came home "bleeding all over." Someone had shot the animal in the shoulder with a pellet gun.
It happened two years after Hamrick's orange-and-white cat "Leo" was nearly killed, also by a pellet gun. Hamrick said there must be someone in the neighborhood getting a thrill out of shooting cats, and said she'll go door-to-door with fliers to warn people about the danger.
If caught, the shooter could face felony charges of causing serious injury to an animal. TJ survived and is recovering, but is reluctant to go outside. References« CO State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Arapahoe County, CO
