Forty-five-year-old Mitch Hall is behind bars accused of beating and killing his dog with a golf club and sledgehammer. According to an arrest affidavit, on the morning of December 31, Hall was attacked by his Heeler dog at his North Central Austin home on Chesterfield Avenue.

After the attack, Hall hit the dog fracturing its jaw and skull into pieces and later dumping the dog into a trash can.

Hall claims that gangs were poisoning his dogs and that he had to kill it because it attacked him. Hall is now in jail charged with cruelty to animals.
