Police say a Lorain man left his pit bull in a vacant house without food or water for two weeks, but he says he didn't do it. The pit bull, named Nino, was emaciated when was removed from the basement of a home in Elyria in mid-November.
Authorities believed the dog survived by living off its body fat.
Terence Allgood pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges, of abandoning animals and cruelty to animals.
Allgood got his pit bull back from the county dog kennel in November before he was charged in the abuse case.
"Where's your dog at now?" Allgood was asked. "I have it . he's good . a misunderstanding . that's what it is," replied Allgood.
Allgood told police the dog was stolen and possibly returned to the home's basement after he had moved.
He's due back in court in March. References« OH State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Lorain County, OH
