Alleged: Clayton Thomas Sheperd

In 2003, Clayton "Tom" Sheperd, a self-professed musher who was training dogs to run the Iditarod, was charged with cruelty to animals for keeping 14 huskies chained to barrels on the back of a home-made trailer. Clayton maintained that this mode of transportation was common for dogs in the Iditarod.
