A Brownsville man is behind bars, accused of videotaping himself having sex with a child and an animal. Police are saying this is probably one of the most disturbing cases to date. It was a random search for a video tape that lead to an arrest for child abuse.
25-year-old Jesus De Leon was arrested on Jan 23.
Police say his girlfriend was looking for a video tape taken at Christmas when she found a tape that showed De Leon forcing a nine-year-old girl to perform oral sex. Police say De Leon recorded the sex act.
To add to the shock of the tape, police say De Leon also video taped himself exposing himself and having sexual contact with a dog.
"We believe this individual did this within the last eight months and he has confessed," said Brownsville police Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique.
Investigators say De Leon admitted to having sexual relations with the little girl on three different occasions. But police say there could have been more instances that they're unaware of.
"We don't know how far he went with this video. Since he does have access to a computer at his home, he did have access to the Internet," says Manrrique.
Investigators say De Leon has no police record of sexually assaulting children. They are grateful his girlfriend found the tape and turned it into authorities.
Manrrique says, "Of course, he gave his reasons why he was doing this but nothing could excuse his actions. And we're not going to use that to excuse any of his actions."
Police won't say what reasons De Leon gave them. He was charged Tuesday morning on two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. His bond has been set at $1 million.
De Leon will be facing more charges, which will include sexual performance with a child and possession of child pornography.
Most of the children deal with some sort of behavioral problem after going through something like this, and this could have a pro founding impact on the child.
Psychologists say each child and their family handle the situation differently.
But one interesting fact is children are used to saying no to strangers and sadly, the majority of the cases happen with someone the child knows.
