Four puppies are recovering after being thrown on to a road from a moving car in the Northern Territory. All suffered severe bruising and one has a displaced spinal disc. The dogs were found by Minerals Council office manager Lisa Victor. "I'm disgusted," she said. "I can't understand how anybody could be so cruel. "I hope the people responsible don't have any children as they are patently unfit to care for anyone but themselves." The pups were dehydrated, malnourished and badly bitten by mosquitoes when they were found.

Ms Victor, 41, found a male dog lying in Wallaby Holtze Rd, 20km south of Darwin, January 7, 2006. "He was just a little brown thing lying there helpless," she said. A neighbour had seen three other dogs hobble into the bush. Ms Victor found the animals - all females - the following day and took all four pups to a vet. "The vet said the injuries were consistent with having been thrown from a car," she said. Ms Victor, of Gray, Palmerston, is now looking for homes for the eight-week-old great dane mongrels through the RSPCA.
