The dog was small, old, blind and crippled, but Howard Goodyear said it threatened the animals on his petting farm. On January 3, 2006, a judge in Medina acquitted the 30-year-old on one count of cruelty to animals.

The dog's owners say they can't believe it and that their two young children still ask when Natasha, their pet Chinese Shar-Pei, is coming home.

Goodyear says the dog wasn't wearing a collar when she wandered onto his property in May 2005 and he shot her. The judge ruled Goodyear had a right to do so because of the perceived threat to his livelihood.
