The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) is offering a $1,000 reward though its Victims of Cruelty program for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for killing a family's pet rabbits in Gordon Head.
News reports indicate that one of the rabbits had been beaten to death, the other beheaded. "It is deeply troubling that these acts of cruelty could take place to a family that is dealing with the loss of four rabbits stolen earlier in September 2005" says Al Hickey, HSC Western Regional Director. HSC Executive Director Michael O'Sullivan is hoping that someone with information about these cowardly crimes will step forward and contact authorities.
"Through our Victims of Cruelty program we are offering a $1,000 reward for information that result in the conviction of those who committed these brutal cowardly acts," says O'Sullivan. "The world is full of violence. Whoever committed these brutal murders needs to be found, prosecuted and thrown in jail." In the past, The Humane Society of Canada's reward program has tracked down other animal abusers and seen them brought to justice. Anyone with information regarding the killing of these rabbits in Gordon Head is asked to contact The Saanich Police at (250) 475-4321 or The Humane Society of Canada at 1-800-641-KIND (5463). If you have information on this case, please contact: HSC 1-800-641-5463
