Fort Walton Beach, FL (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Dec 27, 2005
County: Okaloosa

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society are investigating the death of a coyote that was found December 27, 2005 decapitated and mutilated. After examining the coyote's mangled body, investigators believe that the coyote was struck by a vehicle. However, later reports are what have authorities most concerned.

A resident of Lovejoy Road told deputies that she watched a person load the headless animal's body into the back of a truck. Deputies also received a call about two juveniles kicking around an animal's head in the parking lot of the Santa Rosa Mall. The head of the animal was recovered; however, investigators would like to know what happened and if these reports are connected to this coyote.
