The King County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of two miniature horses in South King County. The two horses died within a week of each other. A horse named Caramello died first, on Oct. 10, 2005, from what looked like natural causes. A veterinary doctor was called to investigate when a 3-month-old colt named Nougat died a week later. Blood tests show the colt probably died from toxic poisoning. Investigators have not said what kind of poison was involved. There is a chance the horses ate or drank something poisonous by accident, or they could have been poisoned on purpose. Sheriff's detectives says their deaths are suspicious.
