The Aransas County Sheriff's Department arrested a 68-year old man on suspicion of cruelty to animals and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Paul Ralph Henke was arrested after sheriff's deputies Gavin Harrison and Andrew Hatch investigated complaints that Henke hog-tied and abused his two dogs.
After receiving an arrest warrant, officers questioned Henke and inspected his white pickup truck where they found six weapons including two handguns, with more than 100 rounds of ammunition, various knives and a sword.
Henke, who remained in the Aransas County Jail, was also charged with several counts of unlawfully carrying a weapon and unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon. Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Patrick Daly set bail at $1,000 for cruelty to animals, $1,000 each on the six weapons counts.
Deputies interviewed three witnesses and learned that Henke was punishing his dogs for an unknown incident in the neighborhood. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
