On December 1st, 2005 NHS officers were called to the residence of 9312 Manderson Circle on a report of a very thin Lab.

NHS Officers found "Bud" the yellow Lab in the backyard without food, water or shelter, the windchill was only 9 degrees and there was a fresh 3 inches of snow on the ground. Bud had ice balls stuck to his feet and the officers did find him to be very underweight.

The dog was seized for his own protection. Upon checking, the officials determined that the dog's owner, Guy Patten, had adopted Bud the previous year. The dog's weight at adoption was 101 lbs. Bud now weighs 66.4 lbs with no medical reason for his weight reduction.

Guy Patten was cited for Cruelty to animals with a mandatory court date in January 2006. Patten stated to Officers that the dog was very spoiled and he could get under the steps to get out of the weather, he had nothing to say about why the dog was so thin but did say that the dog had not been to the vet.
