A black-and-white cat named White Nose who survived one shooting in November 2005 didn't survive a second attack on the street where his owner lives a month later. White Nose, who was 3, was shot to death Dec. 16, 2005, while he was outside on John Glenn Circle, Scott Delucchi of the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA said today.
Delucchi suspects the killer was the same person who shot White Nose in the shoulder Nov. 5. A trip to the All Animals Emergency Hospital in San Francisco and a $595 vet bill later, White Nose recovered. Now his owner found him dead from a gunshot wound to the neck. Delucchi wouldn't reveal whether the killer used a firearm or a pellet gun. The cat's owner declined to speak publicly.
"Someone on or near John Glenn Circle is responsible for deliberately killing a cat and causing great pain and suffering to his owner," Delucchi said. "We cannot imagine much worse than this during the holiday season. It's heartbreaking."
The humane society is offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the shooter. The perpetrator could face animal cruelty charges, punishable by a fine and jail time. The animal shelter also is offering the owner a free pet adoption, which usually costs $70. Anyone with leads in the case is asked to call the shelter at (650) 340-7022, ext. 320. If you have information on this case, please contact: Peninsula Humane Society (650) 340-7022 ext-3
