A Cartersville man was sentenced to four years in jail for illegal hunting charges and drug possession, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).

Michael Warren Parramore, a 30 year-old from Cartersville, pled guilty to possession of firearms, hunting from a public roadway, hunting from a motor vehicle, 14 counts of possessing illegal wildlife and possession of methamphetamine.

"O'Neal not only found evidence of poaching, but also evidence of drug use and possible drug distribution and illegal possession of firearms," says Col. Bailey. "His outstanding work on tracking down evidence at several suspected poaching sites and thorough investigation of this man provided the strong support needed for the case to go to trial."

In addition to serving four years in jail, Parramore will pay a $2,000 fine, forfeit his firearms to the state and also has to write an essay explaining why he had 14 fresh deer heads at his house. Georgia hunting regulations allow each hunter to harvest only eight deer during the hunting season. Only two of these eight deer can be antlered bucks.
