Just one day after the landmark convictions in the San Francisco dog mauling case, a dog has been shot by law enforcement officers.

The CHP went to serve an arrest warrant on a man walking a pit bull in South San Jose. They say when they approached him the man let the dog off its leash. The officers say they feared for their safety, and shot and killed the animal.

The man was taken into custody, and no one was injured
