Pet store neglect
Nashville, TN (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Dec 6, 2005
County: Davidson

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Pass Pets

On December 6, 2005, a Nashville pet store was cited for a form of animal cruelty. Two small animals were seized from the business located in Hickory Hollow Mall.

According to animal control, a terrier at the Pass Pets Stores was in pain from an excessively tight collar around his neck. The terrier and a rabbit were both removed from the store following a customer complaint to animal control about their conditions.

Tuesday's citation is one of four visits that animal control has made to the store. The past problems have varied from dirty cages to animals in need of veterinary care.

The rabbit and dog taken from the store will remain in the care of animal control until a judge decides their fate. The court date is December 14.

Pass Pets President Jeffrey Parks released this statement which reads in part: "The care of our pets has always been our number one priority. All of our pets are under veterinary care...We are investigating what occured at the Hickory Hollow location...."
