Children walking to school shortly after 8 a.m. on the morning of Nov29 stumbled upon a scene that Baltimore County police are now investigating. The students were disgusted to find a female pit bull hanging from a pole behind the 3400 block of Bateman Avenue. Animal Control Enforcement Supervisor Joseph Hodge got the call for help.

The dog was hanging from the pole by a boot cord.

"This had to be premeditated, someone had to physically put this dog on there and hang him," says Animal Control Director Bob Hamilton.

Deliberately killing a dog is a felony, punishable by up to three years behind bars and/or up to a $5,000 fine.

There's now a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the dog's killer. If you know anything about the horrendous crime, call 410-396-4688 between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. and ask for the supervisor.
