Shreveport police said Steven Russell Boyett shot his sister's dog on Nov 30 after the dog killed his cat. It happened on Old Mooringsport Road near Ravendale.

Russell was arrested on charges of illegal use of a weapon and animal cruelty, police said.

According to the dog's owner, the chocolate lab, named Huckleberry, was a gentle dog.   Boyett is reportedly the twin brother of the owner's former best friend.  The former best friend is now living with the owner's ex-husband. The owner and her ex-husband allegedly had shared custody of the dog.
