In May 1996, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and licensed exhibitor George A. Rilling, president of Stone Mountain Game Ranch, Inc., doing business as the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn, Ga., have agreed to a joint penalty of $6,000, $2,000 of which is payable immediately with the remaining $4,000 to be used on facility improvements at the Yellow River Game Ranch. Repairs must be documented and made by Feb. 28, 1997.
APHIS charged Rilling with failing to:
-- construct and maintain housing facilities for animals that are structurally sound and in good repair in order to protect the animals from injury, contain them securely, and restrict other animals from entering;
-- store supplies of food to protect them against contamination;
-- provide for the rapid elimination of excess water from housing facilities for animals;
-- provide animals kept outdoors with shelter from inclement weather;
-- provide sufficient space for animals in primary enclosures;
-- provide animals with food of sufficient quantity and nutritive value to meet their normal daily requirements;
-- maintain primary enclosures for animals in a clean and sanitary condition.
-- establish and maintain an effective program for the control of pests;
-- establish and maintain programs of disease control and prevention, euthanasia, and adequate veterinary care under the supervision and assistance of a doctor of veterinary medicine, and failing to provide veterinary care to animals in need of care; and,
-- individually identify animals as required.
