A dispute between Lee County, Ala., neighbors over an alleged incident of animal cruelty led to a shooting and two arrests on Nov 10.

Robert David Miller, 40, of Smiths, was charged with assault in the second degree in connection with the shooting of his neighbor, Guerry Kevin Baron, 37, of Smiths, Lee County Sheriff's Capt. Van Jackson said in a press release.

Baron had injuries to his left arm and torso. He was sent to The Medical Center in Columbus, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Jackson said.

The sheriff's office received a 911 call at 10:08 CST from a residence on Lee Road 298. The caller said that he had been shot by a neighbor. According to the victim, his neighbor had shot his dog earlier that day, Jackson said.

Miller's wife, Lisa Marie Miller, 33, of Smiths, was present at the time of the shooting and was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant. Robert and Lisa Miller were sent to the Lee County Correctional Facility. Robert Miller had a $5,000 bond.
