A 17-year-old charged with throwing a pit bull from a sixth-floor apartment window told police he did it because he was bored. Police charged Charles M. Thomas of Rochester with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, and false impersonation, a misdemeanor.

City police said Thomas initially identified himself as someone else while being questioned. The incident occurred at his mother's residence in Syracuse.

Thomas told police he was angry at the dog because it had snapped at him a few days earlier. The dog, which died, belonged to a roommate.
