A local veterinarian is out on bond this morning after being arrested on animal cruelty charges.
Investigators say Scott Reed abused a dog while trying to give it a shot at his clinic, Creekside Veterinary Associates in Middleburg.

According to reports, Reed got upset at a dog while trying to give it a sedative. Police say he pulled the dog off the ground, hung it by its neck with its leash until it defecated and urinated on itself. Reports say the dog then bit Reed. The reports go on to say that Reed then put the dog in a chokehold.

According to state reports, Reed's veterinary license is on a probationary status. He's on probation because of other alleged violent incidents with animals under his care. Police say Reed was fired from another clinic after two other cruelty allegations back in 1999. Reed was also arrested on domestic battery charges back in February.

Witnesses say in this incident the dog did not lunge at or provoke Reed.
