Hatch, NM (US)

County: Dona Ana

Disposition: Alleged
Case Images: 1 files available

Alleged: John Bone

In November, authorities record yet another case of animal cruelty in Dona Ana County and removed a 1 month old child from the home.

Officials took ABC-7 to a location 30 miles north of Las Cruces, to a family farm where a horse and bull lay dying. Deputies tell ABC-7 that their main caretaker, 42 year-old John Bone, is now in custody.

Deputies tell ABC-7 conditions inside Mr. Bone's house were also deplorable. They found a one month old child in the house and authorities say that the child was taken into protective custody.

Dona Ana County Sheriff's Deputies escorted an ABC-7 crew through the property and showed us a bull laying helpless, its back legs paralyzed. Deputies say the paralysis could have been caused by a blow to its backside. Moments after the ABC-7 crew left the pen, a veterinarian came and put the bull down. Additionally, deputies tell ABC-7 that a horse found in an adjacent pen was in worse condition.

County Deputies arrested Mr. Bone, for obstructing their investigation. Mr. Bone will likely face two counts of Extreme Animal Cruelty on top of the Obstruction charge.
