Someone is killing cats with an almost surgical precision in Aurora and Denver. There have been at least 10 mutilation cases since July 2002.  A retired psychiatric nurse whose 13 year old silver/gray tabby was one of the victims.  She had to identify her cat based on a photograph of his head.  Investigators discouraged her from viewing her pet because of the extent of the mutilation.
 
A $12,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsbile for the mutilations.  Such cases are worrisome because people who display severe cruelty to animals frequently go on to commit violent crimes against people.
