In February 1997, the U.S. Department of Agriculture charged licensed animal dealer Michael Kredovski, doing business as Bio-Medical Associates in Friedensburg, Pa., with violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
APHIS inspectors found that Kredovski failed to:
-- Provide for the regular and frequent collection, removal, and disposal of animal and food wastes, bedding, debris, garbage, water, other fluids, and dead animals, in a manner that minimizes contamination and disease risks;
-- Construct and maintain the floors of primary enclosures for dogs so that the floors protect the animals' feet and legs from injury;
-- Establish an effective program for the control of pests so as to promote the health and well-being of the animals and reduce contamination by pests in animal areas;
-- Maintain complete and accurate records showing the acquisition, disposition, and identification of cats;
-- Provide certification containing a description of dogs, including the species and breed or type, when making available random source dogs;
-- Separate non-compatible dogs;
-- Maintain complete records showing the acquisition of dogs; and
