On Sept. 27, 1996, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Betty Honn, a licensed animal exhibitor doing business as Betty Honn's Animal Adoptions Ltd. in Henderson, Nev., agreed to a consent decision and order regarding violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

Honn neither admitted nor denied any violations of the AWA but agreed to a civil penalty of $5,000 and a one year license disqualification. APHIS inspectors found AWA violations in the areas of housing, storage, sanitation, pest control, and veterinary care.
