Animal cruelty, fighting suspected
San Antonio, TX (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Nov 8, 2005
County: Bexar

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Man

Equipment for training pit bulls, weapons, illegal drugs and evidence of black magic. Just a few of the things Bexar County Sheriff's Deputies uncovered during a drug raid on the city's south side.

Three members of the same family were arrested during the raid of the a house near Pleasanton Road. Deputies say when the got to the house, the son was holding a shot gun with a 2-year-old girl by his side, and lunged at officers; forcing one deputy to fire. No one was injured.

Once inside the house, deputies say they found marijuana, methamphetamines and a stockpile of weapons. Deputies confiscated expensive appliances; all of which they believe were purchased with drug money.

Neighbors say they were completely surprised to learn what was allegedly going on in the house.

"I never suspected anything, because they're always having yard sales," one woman told local news.

Nearly a dozen pit bulls were taken from the house. Investigators say they found religious altars inside, lined with chicken feathers and severed goat heads. All three people arrested remain in the Bexar County Jail.

In addition to drug charges, investigators say they could also face charges for animal cruelty, attempted murder and child endangerment. Investigators say the 2 year old girl is with her grandmother tonight.
