Dozens of cats are now up for adoption after animal control officers removed them from a house in Elgin November 5, 2005.

The officers were responding to complaints by neighbors who said the home of Sharon Reese was overrun by cats. Forty of the felines were removed. All of them appeared to be in good condition.

The elderly owner has been allowed to keep three cats.

You see, these were all stray animals that nobody took responsibility for, Reese said. And I love animals and I couldnt see that they starved.

Reese was not issued a citation for keeping all the cats in her home on second street.
