An investigation is ongoing and charges are pending following the removal of an emaciated bulldog at a King City property on November 1, 2005.
An investigator with the Ontario SPCA York Region Branch discovered the dog inside a shack while investigating a complaint. The shack provided no ventilation, lighting or windows and feces and urine covered the floor. The dog also appeared underweight with his hip and rib bones visible.
Orders were issued stating that the dog could not be kept in the shed. The owner was also ordered to take the dog to a veterinarian for a health examination and to fax the veterinary report to the Ontario SPCA. When the owner failed to fax a veterinary report, nor contact the Ontario SPCA, the investigator returned to the property and found the dog significantly thinner, with its spine protruding noticeably.
The dog's deteriorating condition and the owner's failure to comply with the Order to seek a medical examination resulted in the dog's removal. The dog was taken to the Ontario SPCA York Region Branch where he is currently being cared for. References | OSPCA - Nov 3, 2005 |
