On August 27, police officers arrived at 1064 Smith St. on a disturbance complaint. While officers were there, the owners dog bit a neighbor. Animal Control was called in, where they reportedly noticed that 3 dogs were chained on the property. The dogs were reportedly skinny and appeared malnourished.
According to reports, one dog only had 20% hair on his body. The animal control officer took all 3 dogs to the vet, where it was reporedtly found that all dogs had hook worms and heart worms, and one dog had mange.
On Oct. 19, 2005 Tammy Miller Lovett pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals. She was sentenced to 12 months probation, ordered to pay the city of metter restitution for holding and caring for the dogs, and animal control will monitor the dogs during the probation period. The dogs will be returned to her after she pays for the rabies shots. Case UpdatesTammy Lovett was brought back to court after Animal Control performed two visits. On the first visit the dogs had no food, water, or shelter - it was raining that day. On the second visit, conditions were the same, although it was not raining. Animal control felt that the dogs were deteriorating back to poor condition. The judge ordered Officer Tommy Condrey to pick up the dogs after Lovett failed to pay probation. Lovett voluntary released the dogs back to animal control on December 21. | Source: City Of Metter Animal Control Update posted on Dec 27, 2005 - 10:47AM |
