On Oct 17, Animal Control officers rescued two Huskies, a Rottweiler, and a Cockatiel bird from a home in the Riverbanks Mobile Home Park in Socastee. Officers say neighbors complained about strange noises and odors coming from the home and tried to contact the former pet owner several times before taking the pets. Police have arrested the former pet owner Stacey Williams and charged her with ill treatment of animals. Williams faces the possibility of a $2,000 fine and jail time. Animal Control officers say they believe the animals were trapped for two weeks to a month without food or water.
