Dog thrown from car Vermilion, OH (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Sep 28, 2005 County: Lorain
Disposition: Open
Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
Animal rescuers recently saved a Chihuahua that was thrown out of a moving car in Vermilion.
According to a press release from the World Animal Foundation, the incident occurred Sept. 28 on Route 2. After being thrown from the car, the 2-pound animal was hit by another car.
Vermilion police contacted the World Animal Foundation who retrieved the dog. The dog, named Peanut by rescuers, was malnourished, infested with fleas and was missing half her hair.
Rescuers believe Peanut was an abused dog from a puppy mill, which often keep dogs in poor conditions while breeding them.
"It's hard to believe that anyone could do this to this to an animal," stated WAF's President, Gary Barnby. "But anyone capable of running a puppy mill is capable of most any animal abuse."
The woman who threw Peanut from her car window was not apprehended, and witnesses were unable to get a license plate number.
