more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Puppy thrown against wall Longmont, CO (US)Incident Date: Tuesday, Aug 31, 2004 County: Boulder
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Perry McNeece
A Longmont man who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after throwing a puppy against a wall will spend 90 days in jail. Perry McNeece, 44, was handed the sentence as part of a plea deal, which includes 30 days he'll serve in jail in another case.
He threw the puppy against the wall in September 2004, breaking the dog's leg and leaving a dent in the wall, police said. McNeece's girlfriend later told the Times- Call that McNeece was reacting after the dog bit him.
McNeece's mother, Ty Scott, told the court on Oct 14 that her son is a well-known animal lover, so she was "appalled" when she learned of the charges against him.
Noting that she and her son are Cherokee, Scott said they both can "literally communicate with wild animals."
"Perry has never, ever abused an animal," she said.
McNeece's stepfather, Richard Scott, said, "As a stepfather, I know Perry is a responsible person around animals and kids ... irresponsible in other ways, but responsible around animals and kids."
But prosecutor Kari Quevli argued that McNeece "can't take responsibility for his own actions," citing a presentence report that showed he blamed his children and the dog for what happened. She added that McNeece failed to appear for previous court hearings.
McNeece was arrested again last week on an outstanding warrant, as Longmont police searched his home and arrested his roommate and his pregnant girlfriend on suspicion of methamphetamine- related charges.
Police said they found meth and production and distribution materials inside the trio's South Bowen home Oct. 7, 2005.
McNeece's attorney, Kristin Johnson, pointed out that her client has a history of working with and training animals and is "not mean to animals, and he doesn't abuse animals."
In issuing the sentence, Judge Carol Glowinsky told McNeece, "I'm not here to paint you as a puppy abuser or an animal lover," noting that the best thing that could happen in the case was "closure."
McNeece is not facing drug- related charges in his most recent arrest. References« CO State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Boulder County, CO
