more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Sheep neglected
Ceredigion, WA (UK)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Oct 11, 2005

Disposition: Convicted

Defendant/Suspect: Thomas E. Morgan

On October 17, Ceredigion County Council said it viewed the ill treatment and neglect of animals as totally unacceptable and would remain vigilant in investigating it.

This followed the visit to land in Llangeitho by Officers from Ceredigion County Council Animal Health Section, and the State Veterinary Service, where they discovered a number of ovine carcasses, and lame and suffering sheep on the land.

As a result of their visits Mr Thomas E Morgan of 8 Bryn Wyre, Lledrod, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates on 11 October charged with causing unnecessary suffering to animals, failure to dispose of 29 sheep carcasses, and failure to maintain proper records.

He pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to 5 sheep, failure to collect and dispose of 29 sheep carcasses, and failing to maintain proper veterinary medicine records.

He was fined a total of £1300, and costs were awarded in the sum of £1250.

The Chairman of Magistrates said this was a very serious matter, and had Mr Morgan not pleaded guilty to the animal cruelty offences, he would have been subjected to a ban from keeping animals.
