Police in Utah County are looking for whoever shot and killed a horse in a populated area of Springville. The animal's owner lost the horse on Oct 5, and it has since turned up dead. Officials say whoever fired the weapon also put many others in danger.

The owner of the horse, Barry Adams, is mad that somebody would have no regard for his animal.

But hes also upset that whoever fired at the horse with a high powered rifle did so just steps away from a few homes.

This could have been dangerous for the families in these two homes if they would have missed, said Barry.

Looks like the horse was standing here when it was shot, said Ron Adams, who lives in one the nearby houses.

(The horse) spun around here, fell in there got up and ran 75 yards and collapsed in my back yard, said Ron. If the bullet would have missed the horse, it's a straight line to my house.

Barry Adams says the horse was in Mapleton. On Oct 5 the horse went underneath a fence and wandered off. People in four cars went out looking for the horse.

On the morning of Oct 7, Barry got the call that the horse was found dead in Springville. Police are looking for the shooter.

Police say the shooter will be charged with killing the horse, and for firing the rifle within city limits.

Anybody with information has should call the Springville Police Department.
