Alleged: James E. Smeltzer

State police charged James Smeltzer, 38, of Lemont Furnace with animal cruelty and criminal mischief after he allegedly shot a black Rottweiler belonging to Rhonda Smeltzer, 29, of Lemont Furnace. Police said the dog is in fair condition and is at home. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.
