Oklahoma City police are still looking for clues after a dog was shot in his owner's back yard.
Julia McCorkle said she went out to check on her four dogs Tuesday night and noticed that one of the dogs, Lucky, was not behaving normally.
"He was just sitting there by his doghouse and he wouldn't get up, and usually he would come and kiss us and whatever," McCorkle said.
When McCorkle looked closer, she could see that Lucky was bleeding. "I could see that he was hurt and that his hair was mostly gone," McCorkle said.
Lucky was rushed to a veterinarian, who notified McCorkle that the dog was the victim of a shotgun blast. Lucky died a short time later, leaving his owner with unanswered questions.
Somebody could have been trying to get in your yard, or somebody could be trying to get rid of your dogs so they could get into your house," she speculated. "We feel unsafe, and I'm really considering getting a gun.
"The dogs will sleep inside now and if anyone comes in they're going to have a lot of problems." McCorkle asked her neighbors if they heard anything. One neighbor reported hearing what she thought was a car backfiring Monday night. References « More cases in Oklahoma County, OK
