Two Holmes County men are in jail on several charges. Dustin Brown and Jeremy Butler are both 24-year-old Bonifay residents.
They are charged with marijuana cultivation, possession of methamphetamine and aggravated child abuse because a child reportedly lived in the suspect's home.
Additionally, the two are charged with fighting animals.
Holmes County sheriff's investigators found a starving pitbull in the yard.
Brown and Butler were allegedly involved in dog fighting.
Investigators say there was a pit in the backyard which was used to train dogs to fight.
Major Harry Hamilton with the Holmes County Sheriff's Department says, "Dog fighting is a serious crime. If the dog dies it's a felony and starving an animal is abuse, and that's a crime too."
Brown and Butler remain in the Holmes County work camp under $40,000 bonds each. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
