A local man says his dog was poisoned and claims his neighbor did it. Shane Forrest says he has evidence to back up his claims. Forrest says he took his dog an animal emergency center where he was told the devastating news, that his dog would have to be put down.

X rays show that his dog ate something that was laced with sharp pins. The dogs insides were torn up as the pins moved through the digestive track.

"Somebody probably took rat bait, some needles, put it in a meatball, or something, shoved it over the wall and let him take it." Forrest says he found Lucky's feces with more than 15 needles in it.

Forrest says doctors told him the needles enabled the poison to get right into his dog's blood stream. "He was wobbling. His body was sunken in. His eyes were watering profusely," Forrest said.

Forrest says he's committed to finding the person who killed his 2 year old lab. There is evidence: Numerous letters, written anonymously, by an annoyed neighbor.

Henderson animal control is handling the investigation. Forrest's 1-year-old cece was checked out by the vet and appears to be fine.

Whoever is responsible for this poisoning could face a stiff penalty. It is a crime to poison the animal of another person.

The law says a person who exposes a poisonous substance to an animal with the intent that it should be taken by the animal is guilty of a felony. That person could face 1 to 4 years behind bars and up to a $10,000 fine.
