A 41-year-old Snellville man has been arrested on animal cruelty charges for allegedly threatening his estranged girlfriend by placing her Rottweiler puppy in a microwave oven.

According to police, William Terrezz Stephens broke into his estranged girlfriends house, stabbed the 7- to 8-week old puppy, and then microwaved it for 10 to 12 seconds. The puppy was hospitalized but later died.

Sgt. Bob Rapier of the Gwinnett County Sheriffs Department said, Apparently he had stabbed the dog, then, he placed it in the microwave, while he was making threats towards her and he did it twice, approximately 10-15 seconds, I believe. He put the puppy in the microwave, took it out, placed it back in.

Stephens was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals, one count of burglary and one count of simple assault. He is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County jail in Lawrenceville.

Commenting about the stabbing, Rapier said, I think he might have meant to insinuate that it could be her, Rapier said. Stephens allegedly told the woman she would be next, according to the police report.
