On the night of Aug 20, police went to the 1200 block of Tallahassee Drive because of a dispute. One neighbor had allegedly doused the other's dog with an unknown chemical. The dog had severe eye and facial injuries. While investigating the incident, an officer breathed in a chemical gas which caused immediate nose, eye and throat irritation. The dog's owner also inhaled the gas. The San Jose Fire Department and a hazardous materials team responded and provided first aid. The team took custody of the chemical, which was determined to be swimming pool acid. The neighbor was taken into custody and booked into jail.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
