A dog named Daisy was doused with gasoline and set on fire June 28. The dog sustained second- and third-degree burns on her belly, legs and eyelids. Hawley said Daisy is expected to keep her sight. She is believed to be a mixed-breed Labrador, 6 to 8 months old. The dog, in flames, was spotted running through the northwest Fort Worth neighborhood at night by an off-duty police officer.

Robert Aretz Lindsay, 50, was arrested June 29 on charges of cruelty to an animal. He is free on $10,000 bail. He lives in the neighborhood where the dog was found.

Conviction on a charge of cruelty to an animal is Class A misdemeanor punishableby up to a year in jail and/or a fine up to $4,000.
