Alleged: Ramon Rodriguez
A Manhattan man could face up to a year in prison if convicted on animal cruelty charges. Ramon Rodriguez, 65, was arrested by the ASPCA shortly after authorities say his dog had to be put to sleep.
The ASPCA say the mixed breed canine was brought to an animal hospital on June 9th by a friend of Rodriguez.
The emaciated dog, Fifi, arrived at the ASPCA's Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital with weeping sores, dehydrated and almost comatose, according to Joseph Pentangelo, a spokesman for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The pooch could not be saved.
ASPCA officials say Rodriguez was taken into custody on the morning of Aug 20, 2005. References« NY State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in New York County, NY
