Northside man is facing animal cruelty charges after he was accused of shooting his neighbor's pit bull on the afternoon of Aug 14. Maxie King, 42, told police the dog had been threatening him. He said if he had not moved out of the way, the dog would have bit him.
King said he went back to his house on Ithaca Drive and got a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
According to the arrest report, when the dog attacked him a second time just before 5 p.m., he shot it once at close range.
He said he immediatly called the sheriff's office to report what he had done.
