Norfolk Animal Control officers are investigating a possible case of animal neglect after they found at least 20 cats on Aug 12 at a home in the Five Points section of the city.
Officials were called to the home in the 1000 block of Norview Avenue on the morning of Aug 12 after neighbors reported a strong odor coming from the house.
The odor was so strong that after initially entering the home, authorities exited and began using fans to ventilate the residence before attempting to re-enter.
The two residents - a mother and daughter identified as 58-year old Ada Stolzenbach and 30-year old Martha Green - have been charged with accumulation of solid waste and debris, as well as failure to keep property free and clear of solid waste. Officials say additional charges are pending.
Authorities say the home will be condemned when officers finish removing the cats inside Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
