Hoarding - 60 cats abandoned
Belvidere, NJ (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Jul 26, 2005
County: Warren

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Rose Milone

As many as 60 flea-infested cats and kittens were left alone inside a home in Warren County, NJ. The conditions were so bad, neighbors broke into the home through an upstairs window to care for the animals and say the temperature inside the home was unbearable. The stench of urine was so pungent, it could be smelled from outside the home.

Police say the cats belong to Rose Milone. County records show she was arrested and then later released earlier in July for contempt of court. No one had seen her until the morning of July 26, when police found her camping near the Delware River.

Police say she was cited for having more than the four cats allowed by Belvidere law. Arrangements are reportedly being made to get the cats out of the home.
