Kahoka Police Chief Steve L. Edlen, 51, is facing numerous charges following his arrest in Chillicothe. Published reports stated that Edlen reportedly entered into an Internet chat room where he met with an adult woman, who actually turned out to be an undercover member of the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
According to news reports, the Internet chat turned sexual in nature and also involved animals and drugs before ultimately concluding with a planned meeting at a Chillicothe hotel.
When Edlen arrived at the meeting sight Thursday, July 21, the police chief was arrested. Edlen was found to be in possession of less than five grams of marijuana at the time of his arrest.
He was charged in Livingston County with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. He also was charged with attempting illegal sex acts with an animal (dog).
The arrest resulted in a search warrant being issued for Edlen's Kahoka home where evidence was uncovered leading to additional charges including burglary in the second-degree, theft of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.
Edlen was arrested for driving while intoxicated in January last year.
Case UpdatesMr. Edlen pled guilty to Attempted Sex with an Animal (Labrador Retriever) and possession of marijuana and received a 60 day jail sentence.
